navigating and overcoming adversity

Every single one of us will face adversity at some point in our lives. Adversity does not discriminate, it does not care if you are rich or poor, what colour you skin is or whether you are successful or not, each and everyone of us will face some form of adversity. I have faced more than my fair share of adversity, and the purpose of this blog is to share with you my own experiences and the experiences of those

who have faced adversity and went on to live beyond their circumstance.

So let me tell introduce myself and tell you a little bit about the adversity that i have faced in my life and how I overcame it and continue to work on living beyond my circumstances today.

My name is Shauna Mellon, I was brought up and still currently life in Northern Ireland. Since the young age of 3 years old I have been through numerous types of adversity. These include:

* Being the child of an alcoholic parent

* Being sexually abused as a child

* Having to navigate chronic health conditions

* Losing my only child to a neuro-degenative disease

* Discovering my husband of 23 years was a child abuser

Yeah, it's a lot, however each and everyone of these experiences has gone to building an extremely resilient person. i want to show you how I took adversity and turned it into evolution and how I have grown and progressed despite the adversity. This may get very raw at times, however I believe than in order to really give you an authentic insight then the rawness is necessary.

There is no guarantee that the challenges we face will stop — and a part of us holds onto them. We accrue them in our memories and threaten our abilities to define who we are. I am a firm believer in human resilience, and even more so in our ability to define who it is we want to be. I hope this blog can be a source of help, even if the tiniest of sparks knowing that others have to fight through their own personal challenges, in helping you get through yours.
